The Opportunity:

As an Estates Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the school site. This is a dynamic, hands-on position that offers variety and the opportunity to contribute to a well-maintained and safe environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance and operation of school grounds, teaching areas, and residential properties.
  • Ensure all areas of the school meet the highest standards of health and safety, security, and presentation.
  • Assist with the management of day-to-day operational tasks under the guidance of the Estates Manager.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence or leave as required.
  • Maintain a flexible and proactive approach to support the needs of the school community.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of a high-standard, well-organised, and welcoming school environment.
  • Assist with the implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure all site requirements are met efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A proactive and reliable attitude with a willingness to take on varied responsibilities.
  • Experience in a similar role or demonstrable skills in maintenance or operational support.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including willingness to work across different contracts (52-week or term-time).
  • A commitment to health and safety standards and the ability to follow procedures.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience with the use of basic tools and equipment.
  • A keen interest in property maintenance and site management.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
