The Opportunity:

As an Estates Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance and management of the school’s buildings, grounds, and sports facilities. This role ensures that all estate operations are conducted in line with health and safety standards and environmental policies, supporting the school’s mission to provide a safe and inspiring learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the maintenance of school buildings, grounds, and sports facilities.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety policies across the estate.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day operations of the estates team.
  • Develop and maintain a proactive maintenance schedule to prevent issues and ensure optimal use of resources.
  • Liaise with external contractors and service providers to ensure timely and effective maintenance.
  • Support the Headmaster in strategic planning and management of the estate.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in estates management within an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Experience in managing maintenance teams and budgets.
  • Ability to develop and implement maintenance programmes.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or similar institution with a focus on pastoral care and co-curricular activities.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability practices.
  • Experience with facilities management software and systems.
  • Background in construction or property management.
