The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Exams Officer to support the academic and vocational curriculum at a school. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth running of internal and external exams, including GCSEs and internal assessments. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Centre and SENCO to ensure compliance with exam regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate internal and external examination processes, including GCSEs and mock exams.
- Ensure compliance with JCQ and other exam body regulations.
- Oversee the training and management of examination invigilators.
- Safely store, distribute, and handle examination materials and scripts.
- Support internal assessments such as MidYis and Yellis.
- Handle remark requests and appeals on behalf of students.
- Maintain accurate records and meet all exam board deadlines.
- Collaborate with the SENCO to ensure appropriate exam access arrangements for students with special needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as an Exams Officer in a school or educational provider.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Experience in assessment and data management.
- Knowledge of JCQ regulations and exam procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including during exam periods and term-time only.
Preferred
- Experience in both independent and state secondary sectors.
- Familiarity with performing arts education is advantageous but not required.
- Experience with internal assessments and admissions tests.
