The Opportunity:
A French Language Assistant is needed to support the Modern Languages Department in enhancing students’ spoken French skills. This role involves teaching KS4 students in small groups and providing one-to-one sessions with KS5 students. The assistant will contribute to the department's mission of fostering a deep appreciation for French language and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging oral lessons in French to KS4 and KS5 students in small groups and one-to-one settings.
- Work closely with class teachers to ensure lessons align with the wider curriculum and teaching philosophy.
- Promote cultural awareness and appreciation of French-speaking societies through immersive teaching methods.
- Participate in departmental events, societies, and activities that enhance students’ engagement with language learning.
- Support students in developing confidence and fluency in spoken French.
- Encourage a love of language and cultural exploration among students.
- Contribute to the development of teaching resources and materials in French.
- Provide feedback and support to students to help them achieve their language learning goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Fluency in spoken and written French.
- Strong literacy and communication skills.
- Experience in teaching or assisting with language instruction, preferably in a school setting.
- Ability to work effectively in small groups and one-to-one sessions.
- Commitment to fostering a love of language learning in students.
Preferred
- Experience working with KS4 and KS5 students.
- Knowledge of French-speaking cultures and societies.
- Experience with immersive language teaching methods.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment in language education.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
