The Opportunity:

The Head of Drama will lead a thriving department, driving a vibrant curriculum and inspiring creativity, confidence, and self-expression in students. This role offers the chance to shape and enhance the school’s creative and co-curricular programme, working collaboratively with colleagues across the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a strong, engaging drama curriculum for Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Deliver and oversee a programme of high-quality productions and performances.
  • Inspire and support students to develop their creativity, confidence, and self-expression.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s creative and co-curricular offer.
  • Manage and mentor a team of drama teachers and support staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and achievement in drama.
  • Ensure the department maintains high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Promote drama both within and beyond the classroom through enrichment activities and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a drama department at a secondary school level.
  • Strong teaching experience in drama at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Excellent knowledge of drama curricula and assessment practices.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading a successful drama department.
  • Experience with theatre production and performance.
  • Experience in curriculum development and enrichment programme design.
  • Experience in working with diverse student populations.
