The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE - Junior School, you will lead and inspire a dynamic and inclusive Physical Education program that encourages every girl to embrace sport and physical activity. You will play a key role in shaping the sporting journey of students from Years 1 to 6, ensuring a seamless and progressive experience. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young minds and bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and oversight of the Junior School’s Physical Education and Games provision.
- Manage and support teaching staff and external specialist coaches in PE and Games.
- Work closely with the Senior School Director of Sport to ensure a cohesive sporting journey for all students.
- Oversee the PE budget and ensure the effective and safe use of sporting facilities.
- Foster a culture where every girl, regardless of ability, develops a lifelong love of sport and physical activity.
- Implement best practices and maintain high teaching standards in PE.
- Promote inclusivity, diversity, and participation across all levels of the PE program.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate PE lessons and activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a Physical Education department within a school setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- In-depth knowledge of sports and PE curriculum for junior students.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive and accessible PE for all students.
Preferred
- Experience in a selective or independent school environment.
- Experience with coaching or working with external specialist sports providers.
- Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
- Experience in developing and implementing school-wide sporting initiatives.
