Summary:

Facilities Manager needed to ensure safe and welcoming school environment.

The Opportunity:

As a Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school’s premises, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the designated Fire Officer and Competent Person, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the school site and report any health and safety non-compliance.
  • Implement and manage risk assessments across the school in collaboration with senior facilities management.
  • Coordinate and review daily, weekly, and monthly checks carried out by the facilities team.
  • Maintain logs of statutory inspections and services, including gas, electric, fire, and security systems.
  • Attend and participate in health and safety committee meetings, addressing concerns raised.
  • Maintain COSHH register, data sheets, and site-specific risk assessments.
  • Oversee pest control and safeguard the premises accordingly.
  • Manage contractor records, ensuring compliance with all safeguarding procedures.
  • Support senior leadership and the nursing team with PEEPs for students and staff.
  • Provide safety equipment and PPE to the facilities team and ensure relevant training is delivered.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in facilities management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and fire safety standards.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and teams effectively.
  • Experience in maintaining and managing statutory inspections and services.

Preferred

  • Experience as a Fire Officer or Competent Person.
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations and risk assessments.
  • Experience with pest control and contractor management.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
