The Opportunity:

As the Head of Prep, you will lead a dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the educational experience for students aged 3–6. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to contribute to the strategic direction of the school and make a lasting impact on student outcomes and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Prep Phase, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral care.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Head and Head of Pre-Prep to develop and implement school strategies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Prep, including pupil recruitment and community engagement.
  • Manage and support a team of staff, including the Deputy Head of Prep and Phase Form Teachers.
  • Promote the school’s values and ensure alignment with the wider Eltham College Group.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior schools and the local community.
  • Deliver teaching responsibilities on a reduced timetable while maintaining a full-time commitment.
  • Support the school’s vision and strategic goals through collaboration and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting, preferably within a school leadership team.
  • Strong experience in managing a team and delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement school strategies and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a co-educational school setting.
  • Familiarity with the Eltham College Group or similar educational institutions.
  • Experience in pastoral care and student wellbeing.
  • Strong understanding of early years and primary education.
