The Opportunity:

As a Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the school’s physical environment is safe, compliant, and well-maintained. This role is essential in supporting the school’s mission to provide a nurturing and effective learning experience for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to ensure all facilities are in optimal condition
  • Oversee health & safety, site compliance, and RIDDOR reporting to maintain a secure environment
  • Manage contractors, contracts, and approved supplier registers to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery
  • Lead and coordinate catering and cleaning services to support the school’s daily operations
  • Ensure site security, asset and vehicle management to protect the school’s premises and resources
  • Line manage and develop the facilities team to ensure high standards of service and performance

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience in Facilities Management with a relevant professional qualification or membership (e.g. BIFM/IWFM)
  • Strong experience in health & safety and risk management, including contractor management, fire safety, COSHH, Legionella, and asbestos compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, contractors, and statutory bodies
  • Good working knowledge of current building regulations
  • Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and online facilities management systems or asset registers
  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualification

Preferred

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent in health and safety
  • Experience in managing large-scale facilities or educational institutions
  • Knowledge of school improvement plans and strategies
