The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Facilities Operative to support the maintenance and upkeep of our school buildings and grounds. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment for students and staff. The Facilities Operative will work within a dynamic team to maintain the school's infrastructure and contribute to the overall success of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine planned and reactive maintenance (internal and external).
  • Conduct PPM inspections and assist with the service and testing of alarms.
  • Record and monitor maintenance activities using the academy’s computerised helpdesk system.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and secure working and learning environment.
  • Support the school during events, including those taking place outside of normal hours.
  • Maintain high standards in all tasks, ensuring accuracy in reporting and record keeping.
  • Collaborate with the facilities team to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks, including building fabric and mechanical/plumbing work.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a busy facilities environment with knowledge of building fabric and/or mechanical/plumbing maintenance.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage physical demands and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Preferred

  • Experience with computerised helpdesk reporting systems.
  • Flexibility to support events and work outside of normal hours.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a school setting.
  • Experience in a school or educational environment.
