The Opportunity:

As an Intervention Tutor - Maths and English, you will deliver high-quality Functional Skills and GCSE-level tuition to small groups of high-needs students, supporting their academic progress and personal development. This is a key role in a school committed to raising aspirations and outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills and GCSE-level tuition in Maths and English to small groups of high-needs students.
  • Support students’ academic progress and personal development through tailored interventions.
  • Contribute to the Behaviour and Inclusion Team, including supervision duties and on-call responsibilities.
  • Manage challenging behaviour consistently, confidently, and calmly.
  • Build strong relationships with students and maintain detailed records of progress and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement effective behaviour support systems.
  • Provide flexible and solution-focused support to students with diverse needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English.
  • Experience working with vulnerable or high-needs learners.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour consistently and calmly.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with young people aged 11–16.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to raising aspirations and outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a Behaviour and Inclusion Team.
  • Experience with Functional Skills or GCSE-level teaching.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with behaviour support systems and strategies.
