The Opportunity:
As an Intervention Tutor - Maths and English, you will deliver high-quality Functional Skills and GCSE-level tuition to small groups of high-needs students, supporting their academic progress and personal development. This is a key role in a school committed to raising aspirations and outcomes for vulnerable learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills and GCSE-level tuition in Maths and English to small groups of high-needs students.
- Support students’ academic progress and personal development through tailored interventions.
- Contribute to the Behaviour and Inclusion Team, including supervision duties and on-call responsibilities.
- Manage challenging behaviour consistently, confidently, and calmly.
- Build strong relationships with students and maintain detailed records of progress and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement effective behaviour support systems.
- Provide flexible and solution-focused support to students with diverse needs.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English.
- Experience working with vulnerable or high-needs learners.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour consistently and calmly.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience working with young people aged 11–16.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to raising aspirations and outcomes for vulnerable learners.
Preferred
- Experience working within a Behaviour and Inclusion Team.
- Experience with Functional Skills or GCSE-level teaching.
- Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Previous experience in a school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with behaviour support systems and strategies.
