The Opportunity:

As a Finance Assistant, you will provide essential support to the Finance Officer and ensure the school’s financial systems operate efficiently. This role is crucial in maintaining the strong financial foundation that enables effective learning and school operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Finance Officer in managing the school’s financial systems and processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance to ensure alignment with school goals.
  • Assist in the management of school accounts, including payroll and procurement processes.
  • Provide administrative support for financial meetings and audits as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a finance or administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and accounting principles.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred

  • Experience with financial software such as Sage or QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with school budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Previous experience in a school or educational institution.
  • Understanding of Ofsted standards and financial reporting requirements.
