The Opportunity:

The Head of Learning Strategies will lead the development of a whole-school Learning to Learn programme, impacting academic outcomes and student success across Years 7–13. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking professional looking to make a meaningful contribution to education and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead a whole-school Learning to Learn programme for Years 7–13
  • Embed the VESPA model and develop revision and memory strategies for Years 10–13
  • Deliver whole year group sessions and contribute to the pastoral programme
  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group study skills interventions
  • Collaborate with Heads of Year, SLT, and Heads of Faculty to identify and support students
  • Support SEND provision, including Learning Lab sessions and EHCP reviews for Years 7–8
  • Deliver parent talks and staff training to ensure a consistent whole-school approach
  • Use academic data to provide integrated, data-informed guidance for staff

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in academic support or learning strategies
  • Strong understanding of the VESPA model and revision techniques
  • Experience working with students across multiple year groups
  • Ability to design and deliver whole-school learning programmes
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred

  • Experience in SEND provision and support
  • Familiarity with CEM and academic data systems
  • Background in pastoral care or student wellbeing initiatives
  • Experience in staff training and development
  • Commitment to co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement
