The Opportunity:

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in managing the school’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making. This is a vital position for someone who wants to make an impact in a dynamic and forward-thinking institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial compliance, controls, audits, and reporting.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and management reports to the Governing Body.
  • Develop and maintain long-term financial goals and annual budgets.
  • Monitor income and expenditure against budgets and manage cash flow projections.
  • Ensure compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements, including Gift Aid and VAT.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for marketing and development initiatives.
  • Manage statutory filings and accountancy matters.
  • Maintain and improve financial systems and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) or above; part/fully qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in financial management.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow modelling.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage financial systems and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in the education or charity sector.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Empathy with the Christian ethos of the school.
