The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated French and Spanish Teacher to join a successful and innovative department. This role offers the chance to inspire students through engaging, challenging, and culturally enriching lessons that promote fluency, confidence, and a deep understanding of language and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 30 (40-minute) lessons per week, including games afternoon and form tutor periods.
  • Deliver imaginative and varied courses tailored to different levels, including Oxbridge preparation.
  • Promote spoken fluency and confidence while ensuring a strong foundation in grammar.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that incorporate role-play, debating, and use of the target language where appropriate.
  • Support and participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities, including sport, drama, music, and adventure.
  • Contribute to departmental trips and exchanges, including 12 annual visits abroad and regular theatre and cultural events.
  • Mark and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and take part in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching French and Spanish.
  • Strong command of both languages, with the ability to teach at all levels.
  • Experience in creating engaging, interactive lessons that promote fluency and confidence.
  • Ability to manage classes effectively and deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience with Oxbridge preparation or advanced language study.
  • Background in co-curricular activities or leadership roles within a school setting.
  • Experience with international exchanges or study abroad programs.
  • Familiarity with using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
