Job Description

Summary:

Teaching Assistant needed at a specialist SEND school. Support pupils in KS2 to KS4.

The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across KS2 to KS4, working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and therapists. You will help pupils engage with their education, develop independence, and make meaningful progress in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in KS2 to KS4 with their learning and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and therapists to deliver individualised support
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independent learning
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and development
  • Support pupils with specific learning needs and tailor strategies to suit individual requirements
  • Participate in staff meetings and training to enhance professional development
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons and activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative
  • Commitment to supporting pupil development and wellbeing
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, particularly with SEND students
  • Knowledge of special needs education and strategies for supporting learning
  • Experience with dyslexia or other specific learning difficulties
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and GCSE qualifications
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or teaching support role
