The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate French Teacher - Subject Lead to join our dynamic Languages department. This role offers the opportunity to lead and inspire students, while contributing to the continued success of one of the most popular language subjects in the school. The ideal candidate will be able to teach French, with the flexibility to also offer Spanish, German, or Mandarin at least up to KS3.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the French curriculum across key stages, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage students and promote a love of language learning.
  • Support and mentor other members of the Languages department, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Organise and lead enrichment activities, including residential trips, exchanges, and enrichment days.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students achieve excellent results.
  • Work closely with other subject leads to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded educational experience for students.
  • Stay up to date with developments in language teaching and incorporate innovative practices into lessons.
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school, including extracurricular and pastoral activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in French.
  • Proven experience in teaching French at Key Stage 3 and above.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve excellent results, including experience of teaching Oxbridge candidates.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Spanish, German, or Mandarin.
  • Experience in running residential trips, exchanges, or enrichment activities.
  • Familiarity with the school’s ethos and values.
