The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic History Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students aged 7–16. This role involves teaching History at KS3 and KS4, while also contributing to curriculum development across KS2–KS4. The ideal candidate will be able to bring history to life and inspire students with enthusiasm and creativity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and shape an engaging and ambitious History curriculum from KS2 through to GCSE.
- Deliver high-quality History lessons to KS3 and KS4 students with energy, expertise, and high expectations.
- Support colleagues in KS2 to ensure a cohesive and inclusive History curriculum.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including sources, artefacts, and trips, to make history relevant and engaging for all students.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of students with SEN and additional learning needs.
- Encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and a love of history in students of all abilities.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community through extra-curricular activities and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in History.
- Experience in teaching History at KS3 and KS4.
- Ability to lead and support colleagues in curriculum development.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices for students with SEN and additional needs.
- Excellent organisational skills, resilience, and a sense of humour.
Preferred
- Experience in GCSE examination courses.
- Additional subject knowledge in Classics, RE, or Games.
- Experience in SEND support or learning assistance.
- Leadership or Exam Coordinator experience.
