GCSE English Tutor needed in Brixton with SEN experience.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced GCSE English Tutor to work with students in the Brixton area. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). The role involves delivering high-quality tuition and helping students build confidence and academic ability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective GCSE English tuition to students in the Brixton area
  • Work with students with special educational needs, using the Bright Heart Approach to build trust and confidence
  • Follow guidelines and training provided by the agency to ensure best practices in SEN tutoring
  • Prepare and deliver structured lessons that align with curriculum requirements
  • Communicate regularly with parents and education consultants to track student progress
  • Maintain detailed records of student performance and feedback
  • Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities as required
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in GCSE English
  • University qualification or currently studying towards one, along with A-levels
  • Passion for teaching and working with students with special educational needs
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate (with children’s barred list check)
  • Two relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with severe SEN
  • Previous experience in SEN tuition or teaching
  • Familiarity with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred methods
  • Experience with online and in-person tutoring
  • Flexibility to work in the Brixton area and manage a varied schedule
