Functional Skills Tutor needed in Ipswich with experience working with SEN students.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to support students in the Ipswich area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with students with SEN and committed to making a meaningful impact through personalized and effective teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tuition tailored to students with special educational needs
  • Follow the Bright Heart Approach, focusing on building trust and self-belief before academic progress
  • Attend an in-person onboarding meeting in London or Manchester
  • Provide regular feedback and progress updates to the school and parents
  • Collaborate with education consultants to ensure consistent and effective teaching methods
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for students
  • Stay up to date with current teaching practices and SEN support strategies
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills
  • A current Enhanced DBS certificate (with a check of the children’s barred list)
  • A university qualification or currently studying towards one and A-levels
  • Passion for teaching and working with students with special educational needs

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with SEN
  • Familiarity with the Bright Heart Approach
  • Experience with online and in-person tutoring
  • Previous involvement in education consultancy or training
