The Opportunity:

We are seeking a General Assistant to join a dynamic team at a school in Cumbria. This is a fixed-term role from May to November 2026, offering the chance to work in a beautiful location while contributing to the care and development of students and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with meal preparations and service in the catering department
  • Ensure the Hall is welcoming and well-maintained through housekeeping duties
  • Support with evening activities and events to create memorable experiences
  • Work flexibly and proactively across multiple areas of the Hall
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a high standard of service
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean and presentable to a high standard
  • Assist with the smooth running of daily operations and special events
  • Provide a friendly and professional service to students and visitors

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • The ability to work flexibly and independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to providing excellent service to students and guests
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage

Preferred

  • Experience in catering, housekeeping, or event support
  • Experience working in a school or hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends if required
