The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity to lead a new specialist school focused on supporting students with complex needs. As Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a culture rooted in therapeutic, trauma-informed practice and creating a safe, supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for a specialist SEMH/Autism school
  • Develop and implement a nurturing, trauma-informed environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing
  • Oversee operational delivery, safeguarding, quality assurance, and compliance
  • Recruit, motivate, and develop a highly skilled and dedicated staff team
  • Collaborate closely with therapy colleagues to deliver personalised, pupil-centred pathways
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and local authorities
  • Ensure the school meets all Ofsted frameworks and regulatory standards
  • Manage budgets, resources, and organisational change effectively

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Headteacher or Deputy Head
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and standards
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in budget and resource management
  • Qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with significant leadership experience in SEN education
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Preferred

  • Experience in establishing and leading new schools or educational projects
  • Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed education practices
  • Experience with safeguarding and compliance processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on collaboration
