The Opportunity:
A Geography Teacher is needed to join a dynamic and innovative department that inspires curiosity and a lifelong love of Geography. This role offers the chance to make a real impact on students’ learning and development while working in an outstanding school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Geography across the age and ability range, including Economics or another subject if applicable.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school’s Scheme of Work and National Curriculum.
- Assess and record student performance, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and the Head of Department.
- Contribute to departmental and whole school initiatives, including meetings and professional development.
- Support student wellbeing and behaviour management as part of the school’s corporate responsibility.
- Undertake whole school duties such as break-time supervision and other rota-based responsibilities.
- Implement school policies, including safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and attend to the welfare needs of students as a tutor.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding student progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a valid 11-18 qualification.
- A degree in Physical or Human Geography (or both).
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
- Experience using ICT in Geography teaching.
- Proven ability in Assessment, Recording, and Reporting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience teaching Economics or another subject.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current educational developments in Geography.
- Involvement in whole school literacy initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Experience in leading or managing people and resources.
