The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Geography across the full age and ability range, including KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Deliver high-quality lessons in line with the school’s Scheme of Work and National Curriculum
  • Regularly assess and report on student progress, providing feedback to parents and the Head of Department
  • Contribute to departmental and whole school development, including staff meetings and curriculum planning
  • Undertake a share in the management of student behaviour and wellbeing
  • Participate in whole school duties such as break-time supervision and other rota-based responsibilities
  • Implement school policies, including safeguarding and child protection
  • Support student learning through effective classroom management and the use of ICT
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and performance management processes
  • Act as a tutor, maintaining accurate records and supporting student welfare

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a valid 11-18 qualification
  • A degree in Physical or Human Geography (or both)
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills
  • Experience using ICT in Geography lessons
  • Ability to assess, record, and report on student progress effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Economics or another subject
  • Knowledge of current educational developments in Geography
  • Involvement in Whole School Literacy initiatives
  • Experience with fieldwork and residential trips
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
