The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Spanish to lead the Modern Foreign Languages Department and contribute to the academic and pastoral development of students. This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum delivery and inspire a passion for language learning within a school that values excellence and community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages Department with a focus on academic standards and student achievement.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging Spanish curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Supervise and support departmental staff through professional development and collaborative planning.
- Monitor student progress and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
- Promote the school’s Catholic ethos and values within the department and across the wider school community.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular links and enrichment opportunities.
- Represent the department at staff meetings, curriculum reviews, and external events.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and equality policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Strong leadership and management experience within a school setting.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and achieving excellent student outcomes.
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and staff mentoring.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or acting in a senior leadership role.
- Experience with teaching Spanish at A Level or equivalent.
- Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches and technology in language teaching.
- Experience in pastoral care and student support.
