The Opportunity:

A Geography Teacher (Maternity Cover) is needed to join a well-established and well-resourced department. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-achieving team while supporting students through a dynamic and evolving curriculum that includes the use of laptops, GIS, and oracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Geography lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies using technology, including laptops and GIS tools.
  • Support students in developing their knowledge of both physical and human geography.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance departmental practices and curriculum development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Engage with the wider school community and contribute to extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and report student progress to parents and senior staff.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing teacher training.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Geography or a related subject.
  • Experience of teaching Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging lessons.
  • Commitment to student achievement and personal development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience of using technology in the classroom, including GIS and laptops.
  • Familiarity with AQA Geography specification.
  • Experience of working within a team and contributing to departmental leadership.
  • Experience of supporting students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
