The Opportunity:
Join a school committed to excellence as a Geography Teacher Trainee. This role offers the chance to develop into a qualified teacher through a one-year initial teacher training course, with the potential for permanent employment upon successful completion. The trainee will be supported by an experienced mentor and will play a meaningful role in the school’s academic and co-curricular life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of Geography lessons to students aged 11-16
- Develop and implement engaging and effective teaching strategies
- Work closely with an experienced mentor to enhance teaching and classroom management skills
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum
- Participate in co-curricular activities and school events
- Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments
- Collaborate with colleagues to support the school’s vision of 'Excellence for All'
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student performance and progress
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A strong undergraduate degree in Geography or a related subject
- Commitment to the school’s vision of 'Excellence for All'
- Willingness to take on a small timetable that increases over time
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop a passion for Geography
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or education-related roles
- Previous involvement in co-curricular or extracurricular activities
- Experience with initial teacher training or relevant professional development
- Familiarity with the National Curriculum and Geography teaching standards
Compensation & Benefits:
- DfE Bursary of £5,000 if eligible
