The Opportunity:
As a Geography Subject Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and supporting student progress across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and passionate Geography teacher to take on a leadership role in a dynamic, multi-site environment. You will be responsible for driving excellence in teaching and learning, while contributing to the school's mission of empowering students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Develop and deliver high-quality teaching and learning strategies that promote outstanding student progress.
- Support and mentor other Geography teachers to ensure consistent standards of teaching and learning.
- Monitor and assess student performance using data to inform teaching and improve outcomes.
- Organise and lead fieldwork studies to enhance student understanding of geographical concepts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective assessment practices.
- Contribute to wider school responsibilities and initiatives.
- Ensure that the Geography department aligns with the school’s values and vision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Successful experience of teaching Geography at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11 to 18).
- A proven record of delivering high-quality teaching and achieving excellent student progress.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience of using assessment and data to improve student outcomes.
- Ability to lead and manage staff effectively within a team.
- Commitment to wider school responsibilities.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum leadership or a strong aspiration to take on such a role.
- Experience in leading fieldwork studies and embedding them into the Geography curriculum.
- Experience of teaching GCSE and A Level Geography.
- An appreciation of a school at the heart of the community.
