The Opportunity:

As a Governance Professional, you will provide essential administrative support to the governing board, ensuring efficient and effective governance. This role is vital in maintaining the smooth operation of meetings, record-keeping, and compliance with governance procedures. You will work closely with the chair of governors, headteacher, and other governors to support the school’s continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute agendas, meeting papers, and minutes for the governing board and committees.
  • Maintain accurate records and up-to-date information on policies and review dates.
  • Provide procedural and legislative advice to the governing board.
  • Set up and manage meetings, including working with committee chairs to arrange agendas.
  • Attend and take minutes at ad hoc meetings, such as exclusion panels.
  • Attend training events and briefings, including those provided by Achieving for Children.
  • Collaborate with other clerks across the Trust to ensure consistency and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and ICT skills.
  • Experience in governance or administrative support within an educational setting.
  • Ability to prepare and distribute clear and accurate minutes.
  • Understanding of governance procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with governing boards or similar bodies.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trusts and their structures.
  • Experience with meeting management and record-keeping systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £20.29 (including holiday allowance).
