The Opportunity:

As a Governance Professional, you will provide essential administrative and procedural support to the Governing Body, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with governance standards. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education and governance, and looking to make a meaningful contribution to a high-achieving institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality administrative support, including preparing and distributing agendas, meeting papers, and maintaining governance records.
  • Accurately minute meetings and ensure all documentation is up to date and easily accessible.
  • Offer clear and reliable guidance on governance, constitutional, and procedural matters.
  • Advise the Governing Body on meeting procedures to ensure efficient and effective decision-making.
  • Support the Chair and Vice-Chair of Governors and the Headteacher in their duties.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and support the smooth running of meetings held approximately 19 times per year.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in governance or administrative support within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take accurate and clear minutes of meetings.
  • Familiarity with governance procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Commitment to supporting the effective operation of the Governing Body.

Preferred

  • Experience working with school governing bodies or similar organisations.
  • Knowledge of education law and policy.
  • Experience in a school or educational environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
