The Opportunity:
As a Grounds Maintenance Worker, you will play a key role in maintaining the beautiful and diverse outdoor spaces of a school. Your work will ensure that open spaces, sports pitches, gardens, and woodland areas remain in excellent condition, supporting the school’s mission and enhancing the learning and living environment for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage open spaces, sports pitches, gardens, borders, and woodland areas to the highest standard.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance machinery in line with health and safety legislation.
- Ensure the safety and security of all areas under your care, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a team within the Grounds and Estates department.
- Provide a high level of customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks, including mowing, pruning, and planting.
- Monitor and report on the condition of grounds and facilities.
- Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to gardening and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate grounds maintenance machinery.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Self-sufficient and able to work independently and flexibly.
Preferred
- Previous experience working in an educational setting.
- Experience with sports pitch maintenance.
- Knowledge of plant species and landscaping techniques.
- First aid training.
