The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher - Pastoral and Behaviour Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a positive and inclusive school culture. You will lead initiatives that promote student wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development, ensuring every student feels valued and supported. This is a strategic role with a focus on pastoral care, early identification of need, and fostering a strong sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive pastoral vision and systems that support student behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with the SENDCO, families, and external partners to provide data-informed, preventative support.
  • Provide whole-school leadership for PSHE and Careers Education, shaping a personal development curriculum.
  • Manage and support a dedicated pastoral team, including Heads of Year and the Transition Lead.
  • Ensure effective student support from primary transition through Key Stage 3 and beyond.
  • Promote a culture rooted in Christian values and mutual respect across the school community.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of pastoral and behaviour initiatives, using data to drive improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners to enhance the school experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a pastoral or behaviour-related role within education.
  • Strong understanding of student welfare, behaviour management, and personal development.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team within a school environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work strategically and analytically, with a focus on student outcomes.
  • Commitment to the school's values and mission, including Christian ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school or college.
  • Knowledge of PSHE and Careers Education curriculum development.
  • Experience with early identification of student need and support strategies.
  • Experience in working with families and external partners to support student wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted and SIAMS inspection processes.
