The Opportunity:

A Grounds Person is required to maintain the school’s premises and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff. This role involves a variety of practical tasks, including key holding, maintenance, and general upkeep. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and committed to supporting the school’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair school fixtures, fittings, and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Carry out minor repairs, decorating, and basic plumbing and carpentry tasks.
  • Ensure the school is locked and unlocked at agreed times, maintaining security.
  • Assist with the upkeep of outdoor areas, including gardens, trim trails, and wildlife zones.
  • Retrieve lost items, such as balls from the roof, and move stored equipment as needed.
  • Support the school community by ensuring all areas are clean, safe, and functional.
  • Respond to day-to-day issues and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a positive working environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in general maintenance or grounds work.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs and basic DIY tasks.
  • Confidence in key holding and following security procedures.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to the role.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Flexibility to work across two school sites.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with garden maintenance and outdoor learning environments.
