The Opportunity:

As a Guidance Counsellor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students’ personal, academic, and future development. You will work closely with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure a safe and nurturing environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support the pastoral care of students in your assigned house, including Year 7 to Year 11.
  • Liaise with tutors, external bodies, and parents to ensure students receive consistent and effective support.
  • Organise and deliver assemblies, house group events, and parent meetings.
  • Monitor academic progress and assist students in setting achievable goals.
  • Provide guidance on emotional, social, and academic needs, ensuring students feel supported and confident.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all pastoral issues related to students in your house.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of student welfare initiatives and interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Learning (Year) and leadership team to ensure a cohesive and positive educational experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training.
  • Experience working in an educational setting with responsibility for student welfare.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in public speaking and working with students, parents, and external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a pastoral or guidance role within a school setting.
  • Knowledge of student welfare frameworks and support systems.
  • Experience with behaviour management and emotional support strategies.
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and student progress monitoring.
