The Opportunity:
As the Head of Art, you will lead the art department and play a vital role in shaping the creative and cultural development of students. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and visionary educator to make a lasting impact on student learning and school life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the art department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive art curriculum that inspires creativity and supports student achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate art into cross-curricular projects and initiatives.
- Support and mentor art teachers, providing professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Promote and manage extracurricular art activities, including clubs, exhibitions, and community engagement events.
- Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to school-wide strategic planning and development.
- Ensure the department meets all statutory and regulatory requirements, including safeguarding and equal opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching and support individual learning needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and teaching experience in art and design.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills with a track record of successful departmental development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to the school’s values and ethos, including a focus on student well-being and academic excellence.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in art education.
- Experience in managing large departments and leading staff development programs.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
- Experience in leading extracurricular and enrichment programs in the arts.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £48,106 – £68,368, including management allowance.
