The Opportunity:

As a Key Stage Coordinator - Science, you will lead and support the delivery of high-quality science education across a key stage. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate educator who is committed to driving academic excellence and student achievement in science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the science curriculum across the key stage, ensuring alignment with school standards and national requirements.
  • Support and develop science staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing targeted strategies.
  • Collaborate with other subject coordinators to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to teaching and learning.
  • Organise and lead departmental meetings, planning sessions, and staff training events.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in science teaching and learning.
  • Ensure effective use of resources and facilities to enhance the science learning experience.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic development of the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership or coordination role within a school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in science and a commitment to raising standards in science education.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of science teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and assessment.
  • Commitment to the school’s values and ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or supporting professional development initiatives.
  • Familiarity with instructional coaching or deliberate practice models.
  • Experience in working with students across a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of science enrichment activities and extracurricular opportunities.
