Summary:

Head of Business Studies role at a leading 11-19 comprehensive school. Lead and teach Business Studies at KS4 and KS5.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Business Studies, you will lead the department and deliver high-quality teaching to students aged 14-19. You will play a key role in shaping the curriculum and supporting the school’s mission to provide an outstanding education through innovative and inclusive teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Business Studies department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons across KS4 and KS5, including GCSE and BTEC qualifications
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects the school’s commitment to creativity and inclusion
  • Support the professional development of departmental staff
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and intervention where needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Promote the school’s values and ethos through teaching and pastoral care
  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular and community engagement activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Business Studies
  • Excellent knowledge of GCSE Business Studies and Pearson BTEC National Diploma in Business
  • Proven experience teaching students aged 14-19
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Commitment to inclusive and creative teaching practices
  • Ability to deliver high-quality lessons and support student achievement

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
  • Strong record of professional development and continuous improvement
