The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Geography to lead a successful department and inspire students across the full age and ability range, including A level. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in a school that values innovation, academic excellence, and the development of its staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver and oversee the Geography curriculum for students across all key stages.
  • Support and develop departmental staff through mentoring, training, and professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external partners to enhance student learning and enrichment opportunities.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings, curriculum reviews, and external events.
  • Ensure the department adheres to the school’s values, mission, and Catholic ethos.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s wider academic and pastoral strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Geography education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Experience of teaching across key stages, including A level.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain high standards of student outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in middle leadership or departmental management.
  • Familiarity with Catholic education and values.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Strong record in staff development and training.
