The Opportunity:
As Head of Chemistry, you will lead the Science department, inspiring students in KS3 and KS4 while driving curriculum development and raising standards. This is a key leadership role with a TLR for a candidate capable of making a significant impact on academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging Chemistry curriculum.
- Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential in Science.
- Collaborate with colleagues to drive continuous improvement and innovation in teaching methods.
- Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted interventions where needed.
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to align departmental goals with school objectives.
- Promote a culture of respect, resilience, and academic excellence across the Science department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Relevant undergraduate degree in Chemistry or a related subject.
- Proven experience in teaching Chemistry at KS3 and KS4.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for Science education.
- Leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and leading a department.
- Experience with driving academic improvement and raising standards.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and best practices in education.
- Experience with pastoral care and student support systems.
