The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Performing Arts Teacher to join a thriving department and inspire students across Key Stages 3 to 5. The role involves teaching Drama and Music, as well as contributing to a rich extra-curricular programme. This is an ideal position for an ECT looking to grow and develop within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach KS3 to KS5 Drama and KS3 Music to a high standard, using innovative and engaging methods.
  • Deliver a dynamic and imaginative approach to lessons that fosters student creativity and engagement.
  • Contribute to the production of two annual extra-curricular performances, one in collaboration with the Music and Dance departments.
  • Support the development of students’ skills and confidence through both academic and extra-curricular activities.
  • Work effectively as part of a dedicated and enthusiastic Performing Arts team.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of the school’s performing arts facilities, including the 120-seat performance space.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to the school’s ethos and values, including a focus on student wellbeing and academic excellence.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in Performing Arts, ideally with experience teaching Drama and Music.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Music, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Commitment to extra-curricular activities and a willingness to contribute to the school’s performing arts programme.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and across departments.
  • Experience working with students of all abilities and backgrounds.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching KS3 to KS5 Drama and KS3 Music.
  • Background in working with ECTs or in a supportive teaching environment.
  • Experience in producing or contributing to school performances or events.
  • Familiarity with the use of modern performance technology and equipment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
