The Opportunity:

As Head of Design and Technology, you will lead a dynamic and well-resourced department, shaping the future of the subject across the school. This role offers the chance to inspire students, develop an engaging curriculum, and drive high-quality teaching and learning at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a rich, engaging curriculum that inspires a love of Design and Technology.
  • Oversee the delivery of Key Stage 3 and 4 courses, including GCSEs in Design and Technology and Engineering.
  • Support and develop a team of committed and experienced teachers through effective leadership and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the integration of digital learning and innovative teaching methods.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent attainment and achievement.
  • Maintain and develop well-resourced workshops and facilities to support student learning.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to promote the school’s vision and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Design and Technology, with a preference for Engineering.
  • A successful track record in leading a department and delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership or middle management roles.
  • Experience with GCSE and Key Stage 3 curriculum delivery.
  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools.
  • Experience in driving innovation and professional development within a school setting.
