Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a high-quality, inclusive curriculum in Design Technology, with a focus on product design, textiles, and food.
• Lead and support staff in delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
• Model excellent classroom practice and provide professional development for colleagues.
• Mentor and guide new teachers within the department.
• Ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning outcomes across all key stages.
• Collaborate with the senior leadership team to align departmental goals with school-wide strategies.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster engagement and achievement.
• Sequence knowledge effectively to support student progression and success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading a Design Technology department at a secondary level.
• Demonstrable success in teaching and learning at KS3, 4, and 5.
• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Experience in curriculum development and sequencing of knowledge.
• Commitment to the school’s values of Love, Hope, and Trust.

Preferred

• Experience in leading CPD and professional development initiatives.
• Background in Teaching English as a Second Language or working with diverse student populations.
• Knowledge of design technology specialisms such as product design, textiles, and food.
• Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
