As the Head of Design Technology, you will lead a revitalized department and play a pivotal role in shaping a dynamic curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and inspire excellence in design technology across key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a high-quality, inclusive curriculum in Design Technology, with a focus on product design, textiles, and food.
- Lead and support staff in delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
- Model excellent classroom practice and provide professional development for colleagues.
- Mentor and guide new teachers within the department.
- Ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning outcomes across all key stages.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to align departmental goals with school-wide strategies.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster engagement and achievement.
- Sequence knowledge effectively to support student progression and success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a Design Technology department at a secondary level.
- Demonstrable success in teaching and learning at KS3, 4, and 5.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Experience in curriculum development and sequencing of knowledge.
- Commitment to the school’s values of Love, Hope, and Trust.
Preferred
- Experience in leading CPD and professional development initiatives.
- Background in Teaching English as a Second Language or working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of design technology specialisms such as product design, textiles, and food.
- Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational organization.
