The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology Department, you will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver high-quality design and technology education. This role is pivotal in shaping student outcomes and ensuring the department aligns with the school’s vision for innovation and excellence in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design Technology Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a clear vision for the department, aligned with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, resource development, and assessment strategies.
  • Support and mentor staff to improve teaching practice and student achievement.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and creativity within the department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with staff development and coaching.
  • Knowledge of assessment and progression strategies in Design Technology.
