The Opportunity:
As the Head of Design Technology Department, you will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver high-quality design and technology education. This role is pivotal in shaping student outcomes and ensuring the department aligns with the school’s vision for innovation and excellence in teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Design Technology Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a clear vision for the department, aligned with the school’s strategic goals.
- Oversee curriculum planning, resource development, and assessment strategies.
- Support and mentor staff to improve teaching practice and student achievement.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider community.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of innovation and creativity within the department.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student success.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience with staff development and coaching.
- Knowledge of assessment and progression strategies in Design Technology.
