The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead the MFL department and inspire students in French and Spanish. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape curriculum delivery and support student achievement in a supportive and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in French and Spanish.
- Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that meets the needs of students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance pedagogical practice and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and excellence in teaching and learning.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities related to language learning.
- Maintain strong communication with parents and the wider school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching French to Key Stage 4 and Spanish to Key Stage 3/4.
- Strong leadership and management experience within a school setting.
- A commitment to Catholic values and the school’s mission.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and curriculum developments in MFL.
- Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and supporting students with additional needs.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
