The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead the MFL department and inspire students in French and Spanish. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape curriculum delivery and support student achievement in a supportive and mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in French and Spanish.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that meets the needs of students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance pedagogical practice and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Organize and oversee extracurricular activities related to language learning.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience teaching French to Key Stage 4 and Spanish to Key Stage 3/4.
  • Strong leadership and management experience within a school setting.
  • A commitment to Catholic values and the school’s mission.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and curriculum developments in MFL.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
