The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology, you will lead and inspire a team of educators to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in design technology. You will play a key role in shaping curriculum development, fostering innovation, and ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee high-quality teaching and learning in the design technology curriculum area.
  • Facilitate professional development for staff in the curriculum area.
  • Ensure that teaching practices align with best practices and promote student engagement.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum resources and ensure they are accessible and up to date.
  • Lead the creation of subject rubrics and ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated learning experience.
  • Oversee assessment practices and ensure they are valid, reliable, and aligned with learning outcomes.
  • Manage curriculum area administration, including budget allocation and resource planning.
  • Lead and organize academic competitions and enrichment activities in the curriculum area.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Appropriate qualifications and relevant experience in design technology or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of the curriculum and best teaching practices.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and development.
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff effectively.
  • Strong understanding of assessment for learning and data analysis.

Preferred

  • Experience with international curricula such as Cambridge IGCSE or IB.
  • Familiarity with technology integration in education.
  • Experience in leading co-curricular activities or enrichment programs.
  • Background in fostering student creativity and innovation.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education and diverse learning needs.
