The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science, you will lead a team of teachers and lab technicians, driving academic excellence in Science at a school renowned for its high IGCSE results and innovative teaching practices. This is a unique opportunity to shape science education and inspire future leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Oversee the delivery of Science curricula, including IGCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Combined Science.
• Support and mentor a team of eight Science teachers and two lab technicians.
• Monitor and improve student performance, aiming for consistently high pass rates in external examinations.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate Science into a broader, interdisciplinary learning experience.
• Ensure the safe and effective use of laboratory resources and equipment.
• Promote a culture of continuous professional development among Science staff.
• Represent the school at relevant conferences, events, and meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Recognised teaching qualification and at least 5 years’ teaching experience.
• Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
• Strong subject knowledge in Science, with experience in IGCSE and KS3 Science.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

• International teaching experience, particularly in an international curriculum school.
• Experience with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with Quantum Learning methodologies.
• Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
