The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology, you will lead the development and delivery of a high-quality curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students and driving academic excellence. This role offers the chance to shape the future of the Design & Technology department and expand provision into Key Stage 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a rigorous, ambitious Design & Technology curriculum.
  • Lead and manage a team of DT specialists, providing guidance and support.
  • Deliver outstanding classroom practice and inspire a love for the subject.
  • Expand provision into Key Stage 5, with a focus on vocational qualifications.
  • Collaborate with external partners to create pathways into apprenticeships and careers.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as the Intrepid Futures programme.
  • Support cross-curricular initiatives, including the Performing and Creative Arts specialism.
  • Ensure high levels of pupil progress and attainment across all year groups.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a senior leader in Design & Technology.
  • Strong track record in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Experience managing a team of specialist teachers.
  • Excellent classroom teaching and leadership skills.
  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject expertise.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing Key Stage 5 provision in Design & Technology.
  • Background in working with external employers or industry partners.
  • Experience in leading strategic educational initiatives.
  • Familiarity with vocational qualifications and apprenticeship pathways.
