The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Drama to lead an innovative and ambitious department that delivers a high-quality curriculum to students in Years 7–9 and GCSE Drama. The role involves managing a department committed to achieving outstanding results and leading a large-scale school production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the Drama department, ensuring a high-quality curriculum is delivered to all students.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that inspires, challenges, and nurtures students.
- Collaborate with the School Music postholders to lead a large-scale school production.
- Monitor student progress through half-termly assessments and ensure sustained academic improvement.
- Provide high-quality teaching and pastoral support to students.
- Support the development of KS5 Drama or Performing Arts options in the future.
- Work closely with the Leadership Team to maintain a positive and aspirational learning culture.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the school’s educational vision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven record of outstanding results as a classroom teacher, Subject Leader, or Head of Department
- Experience in curriculum planning and delivery
- Outstanding classroom teaching and tutoring skills
- A strong record of developmental work in current role
- Ability to reflect on personal performance and commit to self-improvement
- Commitment to the ethos and values of the school
Preferred
- Experience of leading a large-scale school production
- Experience of teaching Drama at GCSE level
- Experience of working in a multi-academy Trust or similar educational setting
- Experience of working with students with special educational needs
