The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Drama to lead an innovative and ambitious department that delivers a high-quality curriculum to students in Years 7–9 and GCSE Drama. The role involves managing a department committed to achieving outstanding results and leading a large-scale school production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Drama department, ensuring a high-quality curriculum is delivered to all students.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that inspires, challenges, and nurtures students.
  • Collaborate with the School Music postholders to lead a large-scale school production.
  • Monitor student progress through half-termly assessments and ensure sustained academic improvement.
  • Provide high-quality teaching and pastoral support to students.
  • Support the development of KS5 Drama or Performing Arts options in the future.
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team to maintain a positive and aspirational learning culture.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the school’s educational vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven record of outstanding results as a classroom teacher, Subject Leader, or Head of Department
  • Experience in curriculum planning and delivery
  • Outstanding classroom teaching and tutoring skills
  • A strong record of developmental work in current role
  • Ability to reflect on personal performance and commit to self-improvement
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of the school

Preferred

  • Experience of leading a large-scale school production
  • Experience of teaching Drama at GCSE level
  • Experience of working in a multi-academy Trust or similar educational setting
  • Experience of working with students with special educational needs
