The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design and Technology, you will lead a department that plays a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring a passion for design and technology in students. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes both academic excellence and a passion for design and technology.
  • Support and mentor staff to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in examination and non-examination outcomes.
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure all students have access to quality learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and projects.
  • Represent the department in school meetings and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Design and Technology.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire both students and staff.
  • Strong track record in delivering high-quality teaching and achieving positive student outcomes.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission and values, including a Catholic ethos.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Previous leadership or management experience in an educational setting.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience in working within a Catholic school environment.
