The Opportunity:

As the Head of Music, you will lead the department and inspire students to explore and excel in music. This role is central to shaping the future of the school’s arts programme and fostering a passion for music among students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Music department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive music curriculum.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential in music.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate music into broader educational goals.
  • Support and mentor music staff to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
  • Organize and lead extracurricular music activities, performances, and events.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Work closely with parents and the wider school community to promote music education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Head of Music or in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of successful departmental development.
  • Excellent teaching and classroom management skills, with a passion for music education.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
  • High expectations of student achievement and a commitment to raising standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading successful music programmes or ensembles.
  • Familiarity with music technology and innovative teaching methods.
  • Experience in working with diverse student populations and communities.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in music education.
